In the sphere of STEM pedagogy, the phrase “Engineering Design Process” circulates a lot. Although the process is developed through the engineering aspect of STEM, it is important to science, technology and math as well. Simply put, the EDP walks students through the steps of working out a problem.

Libraries provide an informal environment where the community can learn, and with increasing interest in STEM, it’s important for libraries to create effective STEM programs.

With their ability to bring engaging programs and resources to the community, public libraries could used to bridge the STEM equity gap.

Incorporating STEM into school libraries can offer more hands-on, informal learning opportunities that will increase student engagement with STEM subjects.
